The 'development' of a project means different things to different people. As it happens, the development of project can take different shapes based on a particular project's scope and definition. To this end, we have developed an approach, rather than a process, to determine the best course of action for each project.

In some cases it is best to start off with a prototype of the proposed solution. This is most useful in cases where a system is being built from scratch. Building a prototype ensures that we have a complete understanding of the requirements and allows our clients to refine their requirements. Building a prototype also helps identify challenges early on and results in a realistic project delivery schedule.

In instances where we are extending an existing system, our approach will be developed taking into consideration; the type of system that needs to be extended, the interfaces available, how closely is the new system integrated with the existing one, can/should we replace parts of the existing system to ease integration and maintenance etc. This approach ensures that appropriate design decisions are taken at the proper stage - before starting development work.

In short - we build on the requirements from the 'definition' phase to choose the technology and development methodology appropriate for the project.
